The other night as I was worshipping all of a sudden I saw this really strong wind, like a river swirling and flowing. It was powerful. It swooped downward, I knew that it was the Spirit of the Lord. I was excited, I thought, this is a move of the Spirit, this is revival, but as I looked God showed me fields of redwoods blown over, giant trees with their roots exposed. I was horrified, I asked the Lord "What is this?! What has happened? What is going on Lord, please explain what I am seeing I don't understand, these are your people."
The Lord "zoomed" me out of the immediate picture, and I saw that there was only at the most 1.5 metres of soil that had been holding the redwoods in place, below this soil were rows of white cars. But these cars were all parked on bitumen and asphalt.
The Lord said to me you are right, these are the "trees of righteousness" the pillars of the church, that have planted their roots into ministries, not me. The cars represent the ministries, but they were parked on a man made foundation. The ministries had taken their eyes of me as the reason for their existence and placed it on themselves. This allowed the truth to be suppressed and false doctrine to creep in.
The wind is the wind of the spirit but this move will come as a judgment upon all those not rooted in me.
What do you want me to pray God I cried out in the spirit. I began to pray in the Holy Ghost and I saw a number of things occur, I saw blindfolds come off trees eyes and the trees begin to pull their roots up and walk to open areas of field and be planted there. Their roots went down deep towards the bedrock.
Others I saw blown over but with cuttings taken off and being transplanted by the hand of the Lord God. I knew that others remained blown over and I saw people clambering over the trees confused weeping and crying calling out to these trees for the support and shelter they had previously received but there was no answer only confusion.
I knew that the trees that had pulled their roots up and walked away, had heard God's voice and the Lord was moving them back into places where He was their first love, not the denomination. I knew that these pillars would be able to transition and continue to be what God had purposed them to be. The ones that had had cuttings taken from them represented a pruning and a transplanting but a time of regrowth protection and nurture would be needed.
It is not a season to be building for man's agenda. It is not a season for God's people to be entering the ministry to build their own reputations. It is a season to be planting God's people into the foundations of the Lord God almighty. With what the Lord showed me, there are people who are sitting in man made churches, pillars of the church community, but the ministry they are in is not sitting on the foundation of the Lord God and His word.
The Lord showed Amos a plumbline. (Amos ch 7) A plumbline, or plumb bob as it is sometimes referred to, is a string with a weight on the end of it. When held up it forms a straight line, this is how builders are able to get the upright pillars of a house straight. If the cornerstone is not straight or the corner upright is not straight the house will not be square and will not have integrity to withstand storms etc. Today we use spirit levels. But some builders still will hold a plumbline up. The word of God is a spirit level to the house of God and indeed to our lives. We use the Word of God and the truth to test the spirit realm. To test whether doctrine is from the Lord or from devils. 1 Timothy 4:1.
God said to Amos, "I have set this in the middle of the people and I will not pass over their sins and iniquities anymore." I sense that the Redwoods may represent America. America has had the word of God openly preached for generations. These trees that I saw were giant trees, but I only saw the trunks I did not get a close up view of the leaves to be 100% sure they were redwoods.
This I do know, and that is that the Lord is warning us as His people, to test the foundations and our motivations. Are we planted into Christ and being an active part of His body, or are we planted into a manmade ministry whose foundations are on that ministry and not the Lord Jesus Christ? Does the church we attend support euthanasia and full term abortion, the act of homosexuality, and transgender? (we are called as christians to love and support people, but we do not condone the sinful behaviour) Does the church we attend encourage God's people to be in their bibles, reading and using the plumbline in our lives? Does the church we attend preach the full word of God? Does the church we attend include the Holy Spirit?
Why did we decide to fellowship in the church that we attend? Is it because they have a state of the art worship team and equipment, and they have large numbers? Do we attend because "I was born a ….. and I will die a...…" Do we attend because the club we belong to member's attend this church?
Do we understand the foundational things of the word as described in Hebrews chapter 6? "moving forward from the principles of Jesus Christ let us progress to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faithfulness towards God. Of the doctrine of baptisms (plural) and the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead and of eternal judgement" Paul tells us that if we understand these things and move on that it is impossible for those who were once enlighted, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, that have received the Holy Spirit, that have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the age to come, to be restored if they fall away."
I encourage you if you do not understand these things to go to your pastors your church leaders and ask them to teach about these things.
We need to be encouraged in our walk with God to use the plumbline, we need to be encouraged to be faithful to the foundational truths, to seek after and taste the goodness of the Holy Spirit, and willing to move on into greater understanding and revelation.
We need to be doers of the word and not hearers only, James 1:22-25. The winds are coming, but are we ready. We need to be evangelists and fulfil the good commission of Jesus Christ, Mark 16, we need to be bringing people into a building that will stand the test. I can still see the people weeping and turning to the fallen trees in vain. What are our roots planted into?
